You should always start with the exercise that works the most muscle groups and uses the most energy (after your warm up of course). This is usually the bigger compound exercise, i.e. Squat, deadlift, bench press. Follow those up with other barbell exercises, then dumbbells, then machines/cables and finally, any body weight.
The trick is to work your way down to the assisted/easier moves when you start to fatigue. There is maximum muscle building potential towards the end of your workout, use this strategy to your advantage.
